Students to start receiving letters of admission to universities starting today

Students will start receiving letters of admission to universities starting today, according to Cs Machogu.

Students who took part in the 2022 Kansas Comprehensive Secondary Examinations will, beginning today (Wednesday, August 2), begin getting admission letters for the university or college where they were placed by KUCCPS.

During his speech at the Kenya School of Government in Kabete, Kenya, Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu urged university heads to send letters to enable students to apply for loans and bursaries. The inauguration of the new funding model for universities and colleges was taking place at the same time.

“I instruct Vice Chancellors and Principals to see to it that letters of admission are distributed no later than August 2nd, 2023. According to the CS, “this will allow students to apply for loans and bursaries beginning on August 3, 2023, and continuing until midnight on August 27, 2023.”

The Government has been successful in developing and launching the Higher Education Financing Portal in response to the Presidential decree that was issued on May 3, 2023 about the implementation of the new funding model.

Students at universities and TVET institutions are the target audience for the platform, which is designed to accept applications for scholarships, loans, and bursaries.

Machogu underlined that all newly enrolled students who are interested in receiving financial assistance for higher education must now formally make online requests through the higher education finance portal, which can be accessed at www.hef.co.ke.

He made the point that under the new model, the government will give full financial support for the education of students who are vulnerable and greatly in need of it. These students make up 29% of the student population that will be enrolling in university or TVET programs this year.

In a similar spirit, CS Machogu encouraged students to adhere to the stipulated timelines so that scholarships and loans can be processed in a timely manner.

“At their core, grants and scholarships will henceforth be distributed based on a recipient’s financial need, much as loans have been distributed in the past. Every application for a scholarship, loan, or bursary under the new funding model will be subjected to a test to determine whether or not they have sufficient financial resources. He continued.
